Overview

Kashmir works as a family destination for a specific reason — it puts several completely different experiences within a single valley circuit without requiring every family member to want the same thing. The child who has never seen snow gets Gulmarg. The grandparent who has wanted a houseboat gets Dal Lake. The teenager who wants a cable car gets the Gondola. The parent who wants a river walk gets Pahalgam. The drive between each of these places runs through a valley consistently worth looking at from the window. This kashmir family tour package is structured around that variety at a pace mixed ages can sustain comfortably.

Bon Voyagers handles the pickup from Srinagar Airport and covers five nights with a private Innova, Xylo or Scorpio class vehicle throughout. Night 1 is in Srinagar with a Dal Lake Shikara ride in the afternoon. Night 2 is at Pahalgam for the Lidder Valley and the Baisaran pony ride. Night 3 is at Sonamarg for the Thajiwas Glacier. Night 4 is at Gulmarg for the snow and the Gondola. Night 5 returns to Srinagar before the Day 6 airport drop. The vehicle is private throughout — the family sets its own pace without a group coach schedule. Daily breakfast and dinner on MAP basis throughout.

6 Days

The kashmir family tour package begins at Srinagar Airport where the Bon Voyagers vehicle is waiting. The first afternoon moves at the pace a family with varying energy levels after a flight can sustain. The Dal Lake Shikara ride covers the most rewarding hour in the city without requiring any walking — the wooden boats are low, stable and suitable for all ages including young children and elderly family members.
The Mughal Gardens at Nishat and Shalimar follow in the late afternoon — the terraced gardens above the lake give children space to move around after the Shikara. The old city lanes around Hazratbal close the evening. Overnight in Srinagar.

The drive southeast from Srinagar to Pahalgam covers approximately 96 kilometres through the Jhelum and Lidder valleys, taking around 2 to 2.5 hours. Pahalgam at approximately 2,130 metres sits on the Lidder River — the pine-forested valley town where the river runs alongside hotel gardens and children find the cold clear water immediately compelling.
The pony rides from the town edge to Baisaran meadow at around 2,440 metres are the activity that makes Pahalgam work for a family with children — horse handlers operate from the town perimeter with charges paid locally. This kashmir family tour package overnights at Pahalgam to give the valley its proper Day 3 time. Overnight at Pahalgam.

Baisaran meadow sits approximately 5 kilometres from the Pahalgam bazaar at around 2,440 metres — the approach is by pony from the town edge with charges paid locally. The meadow is wide and fir-edged, giving children a clear open space at altitude that most have never experienced before. Betab Valley, accessible by vehicle approximately 10 kilometres from Pahalgam, is the greener flat-floored valley — easier walking terrain for families with very young children or elderly members.
Aru Valley, approximately 12 kilometres from town, adds a third option for families with older children and more energy. This kashmir family tour package leaves the Day 3 programme to whatever combination the family finds right. Overnight at Pahalgam.

The drive northeast from Pahalgam to Sonamarg covers approximately 135 kilometres routing through Srinagar and up the Sindh River valley, taking around 3 to 3.5 hours. Sonamarg sits at approximately 2,740 metres and the Thajiwas Glacier approximately 3 kilometres from the base is the primary family activity. The glacier approach is by horse from the base with charges paid locally — it gives children a direct encounter with permanent snow at close range in any season except peak summer.
Ice sledging near the glacier road in the snow months is specifically popular with children. This kashmir family tour package overnights at Sonamarg specifically to give the glacier a proper morning visit. Overnight at Sonamarg.

The drive from Sonamarg west to Gulmarg covers approximately 90 kilometres through Srinagar and northwest into the Pir Panjal foothills, taking around 2 to 2.5 hours. Gulmarg at approximately 2,650 metres is the destination most Indian families travel to Kashmir specifically to see — the snow that children from the plains have seen only in photographs is here in a form that can be touched and played in across most of the October to May window.
The Gondola operates in two phases to Apharwat at approximately 3,980 metres — Phase 2 is optional and not recommended for young children or elderly members with altitude sensitivity. Overnight at Gulmarg.

The final morning of the kashmir family tour package is at Gulmarg — the meadow before the cable car crowds arrive, whatever snow the season holds on the Apharwat above. The drive from Gulmarg to Srinagar Airport covers approximately 55 kilometres in around 1.5 to 2 hours.
Groups with afternoon or evening departures have the Srinagar morning for a final stop at Lal Chowk for Kashmiri saffron, dry fruit or the papier-mache and hand-knotted craft that children often find the most memorable purchase from the valley. Groups with morning departures should flag timing with the Bon team at booking. The Bon Voyagers vehicle drops at Srinagar Airport for the return flight.
