Overview
ChhattisgarhΒ is one of Indiaβs most forested states and Raipur knows what it means to live surrounded by trees. But the forests of Arunachal Pradesh sit at 13,700 feet on the approach to the China border, and the Monpa monks in the monasteries above those trees have no connection to anything in central India. This raipur toΒ arunachalΒ tour package runs 8 Days, 7 Nights from Guwahati, through Tezpur, Bomdila and Sela Pass into Tawang and back, the eastern Himalayas at full scale.
The first night at Tezpur keeps Day 1 to a comfortable four to five hours rather than the nine-hour mountain push that most Arunachal circuits demand from the very start. The private car, Inner Line Permit, MAP meals and hotel rooms are handled before landing at Guwahati, so the journey runs properly from the moment our representative meets the group at arrivals.

The flight from Raipur connects through Kolkata or Hyderabad to Guwahati, and the journey takes most of the morning. Our representative meets the group at arrivals and the raipur to arunachal tour package begins with the most manageable first day of any Arunachal circuit: about 180 kilometres and four to five hours to Tezpur on the Brahmaputra.
The drive goes through flat Assam tea country with the Himalayan foothills appearing on the northern horizon as the afternoon progresses. Tezpur by evening, warm and low, the mountains close but not yet demanding.
After breakfast the road turns north toward the hills, the Inner Line Permit check at Bhalukpong marking the moment Arunachal Pradesh begins. From Bhalukpong the climb through the Tenga valley takes about three more hours to reach Bomdila at 8,000 feet, the drive passing through forest that gets denser and taller with every kilometre of altitude gained.
The monastery and the viewpoint above Bomdila in the late afternoon offer the first proper introduction to the Monpa Buddhist culture that runs all the way up to Tawang. Overnight here, the body finding its footing at a new elevation.
The longest and best drive of the circuit, about 180 kilometres and seven to eight hours with Sela Pass at 13,700 feet roughly halfway. The raipur to arunachal tour package stops at the top because stopping is the right thing to do: the frozen lake below the ridgeline, the prayer flags in the wind and the sheer absence of anything familiar from Raipur in the landscape all ask for a moment to stand still.
The Jaswant Garh War Memorial and Nuranang Falls on the descent before Tawang at 10,000 feet arrives by evening, the monastery visible on its ridge from the approach road.
A slow day, and at 10,000 feet the altitude earns that call. Tawang Monastery in the morning, the largest in India, founded in the seventeenth century and still functioning with monks in residence and prayers running before the first visitors arrive in the courtyard.
The Tawang War Memorial in the afternoon, Urgelling Monastery and the craft centre before evening. The raipur to arunachal tour package keeps the pace easy here because there is a second full day at Tawang tomorrow and nothing needs to be rushed.
More Tawang with less structure, which is the reward for arriving through two nights of staged climbing rather than one brutal push. The Gyangong Ani Gompa nunnery, the Grand Buddha statue and the town lanes and viewpoints that the first day did not reach.
The optional Bumla Pass, Madhuri Lake and Pangateng Tso excursion is available locally at INR 5,500 per person on the spot for those who want the India-China border ridge, requiring a separate registered vehicle and special permit. Most people find that the second Tawang day quietly surpasses the first.
Back over Sela Pass toward Dirang, the road familiar now and the descent steadier than the climb felt three days ago. Around 140 kilometres and seven hours, the temperature rising as the altitude drops, Dirang at 4,900 feet arriving in the evening: warm, orchard-scented and noticeably easier to breathe than Tawang.
The raipur to arunachal tour package uses this Dirang night to step the body down from the high country properly, the hot spring near town in the evening a welcome end to the day.
Around 200 kilometres and seven hours from Dirang through Bhalukpong and back out into the Assam plains, the road making the full descent from mountain air to river country in a single afternoon.
Tezpur again, the same town from Day 1, but the trip is a very different thing on the return than it was on the arrival. One comfortable overnight here and the Guwahati run tomorrow is four to five hours rather than a long final push.
Tezpur to Guwahati in four to five hours, our representative at the airport drop, and the raipur to arunachal tour package ends at the departure gate. The connecting flight back to Raipur goes via Kolkata or Hyderabad.
Chhattisgarh's forests will look different after a week in the Himalayan ones, which is about the most useful thing travel does to a person.
