The namsai tour package starts at Dibrugarh airport where our representative meets the group and points the car east into the flat, warm country of Namsai district, about an hour and a half to two hours with the Inner Line Permit check on the Arunachal border on the way in.
By early afternoon the Golden Pagoda's spires are visible from the approach road, which is a useful arrival introduction to what Namsai is about. Check in, rest, and an easy first evening at your own pace in the district.
An early morning at the Kongmu Kham before the day heats up, when the golden spires catch the first light and the monks are moving through the courtyards before the visiting groups arrive. This is a working Theravada monastery, not a display, and the morning pace reflects that.
The afternoon goes to the Tai Phake villages around Namsai, where the weaving, the wooden architecture and the Buddhist shrines in every household differ in every way from the monastery culture of western Arunachal. Chongkham village in the late afternoon, one of the district's older Tai settlements with a monastery most visitors never reach.
The third day uses the distance Namsai puts between itself and the rest of Arunachal tourism. Best Time to Visit
Namsai is warm and accessible throughout most of the year, with October through April being the most comfortable window. The monsoon between June and September brings heavy rain but does not close the main roads. April coincides with the Sankken festival, the Tai community water festival, which is the most culturally active time to visit the district.
