Overview
Kashmir has the terrain for every category of outdoor activity that the 18 to 35 traveller is looking for — white water on the Lidder River at Pahalgam, proper trekking in the Aru Valley above the main tourist line, glacier approach on foot at Sonamarg and the Gondola to Apharwat at Gulmarg where the skiing in winter and the high-altitude walk in summer are both worth the cable car fare. The activity options are not arranged as gimmicks around a sightseeing circuit. This kashmir adventure tour package builds the itinerary around the activities themselves — the destinations are chosen because of what they let you do on the ground.
Bon Voyagers handles the pickup from Srinagar Airport and covers five nights with a private Innova, Xylo or Scorpio class vehicle throughout. Night 1 is in Srinagar. Nights 2 and 3 are at Pahalgam — the Lidder river rafting on Day 2 and the Aru Valley trek on Day 3. Night 4 is at Sonamarg for the Thajiwas Glacier approach on foot. Night 5 is at Gulmarg for the Gondola and the upper terrain. Day 6 returns to Srinagar Airport. All adventure activity charges are paid locally on site and are not included in the package cost. Daily breakfast and dinner on MAP basis throughout.
Day-wise Itinerary
6-day travel plan — tap any day to view full details.
The kashmir adventure tour package begins at Srinagar Airport where the Bon Voyagers vehicle is waiting. The first day stays in Srinagar — the drive south to Pahalgam on Day 2 is best started fresh and the Srinagar afternoon gives the group a settled overnight before the activity days begin.
The Dal Lake Shikara ride, the Mughal Gardens at Nishat and Shalimar and the Hazratbal Shrine cover the Srinagar afternoon without the exertion that Days 2 through 5 will require. Use the Day 1 evening to confirm rafting and trekking preferences with the Bon driver so local arrangements at Pahalgam are ready on arrival. Overnight in Srinagar.
The drive southeast from Srinagar to Pahalgam covers approximately 96 kilometres through the Lidder Valley, taking around 2 to 2.5 hours. The Lidder River at Pahalgam offers white water rafting on a Grade II to Grade III section — suitable for first-timers and experienced paddlers alike, running through forested gorges between the Pahalgam base and the lower river sections.
Rafting operators at Pahalgam run half-day sessions with all safety equipment provided and charges paid locally on site. This kashmir adventure tour package structures the Day 2 afternoon for rafting on arrival — the group checks in, leaves bags at the hotel and heads directly to the river. Overnight at Pahalgam.
Aru Valley sits approximately 12 kilometres from Pahalgam at the end of a road that stops at the village and continues as a trail into the higher Himalayan meadows above. The trek from Aru village into the upper pasture zone covers a 300 to 400 metre elevation gain on a clear trail through pine forest and then open alpine meadow — a half-day ascent that gives views of the Kolahoi Glacier above and the Lidder Valley below.
Local guides are available at Aru village with charges paid locally and are recommended for groups attempting the upper meadow sections. Betab Valley, approximately 10 kilometres from Pahalgam, is the alternative for groups preferring a gentler flat-floor walk on this kashmir adventure tour package. Overnight at Pahalgam.
The drive northeast from Pahalgam to Sonamarg covers approximately 135 kilometres routing through Srinagar and up the Sindh River valley, taking around 3 to 3.5 hours. Sonamarg at approximately 2,740 metres has the Thajiwas Glacier approximately 3 kilometres from the base — accessible on foot on a clear trail that gains approximately 200 metres of elevation from the valley floor to the glacier snout.
Walking to the glacier rather than taking the local pony service is the right choice for this kashmir adventure tour package — the approach on foot through the forest and the meadow above the treeline gives the glacier its proper context in a way the pony ride does not. Overnight at Sonamarg.
The early Sonamarg morning before the day-tripper traffic arrives from Srinagar gives the group a final hour at the glacier base. The drive west to Gulmarg covers approximately 90 kilometres through Srinagar and northwest into the Pir Panjal foothills, taking around 2 to 2.5 hours. Gulmarg at approximately 2,650 metres has the Gondola to Apharwat ridge at approximately 3,980 metres — the highest cable car terrain in the region and the anchor activity of the Day 5 afternoon on this kashmir adventure tour package.
In winter Gondola access opens skiing and snowboarding. In summer the upper terrain gives a high-altitude walk above the snowline. Gondola charges are paid locally. Overnight at Gulmarg.
The final morning of the kashmir adventure tour package is at Gulmarg — the meadow at approximately 2,650 metres before the cable car queues build. Groups whose departure timing allows can take a morning walk on the meadow perimeter trail before returning to the vehicle.
The drive from Gulmarg to Srinagar Airport covers approximately 55 kilometres in around 1.5 to 2 hours. The Srinagar stretch allows a final stop at Lal Chowk for Kashmiri dry fruit, saffron or woollens before the airport drop. The Bon Voyagers vehicle drops at Srinagar Airport for the return flight.
