Overview

Most Andaman itineraries follow the same three-island loop — Port Blair, Havelock, Neil. It is a good loop and it works. But Baratang Island, roughly 100 kilometres north of Port Blair through the Middle Andaman district, offers something that Havelock and Neil together cannot — active mud volcanoes, limestone caves formed over thousands of years and a road journey that passes through the Jarawa Tribal Reserve under a government-escorted convoy system. The caves are reached by a short motorboat ride from the Baratang jetty followed by a jungle trek, and the mud volcanoes sit a short walk from the main road. Neither requires any special fitness. This andaman package from bangalore is built for the Bangalore traveller who has done Goa and wants the Andaman Islands to actually surprise them.

Bon Voyagers manages the complete ground programme from Port Blair Airport arrival. The six days open with Port Blair and the Cellular Jail on Day 1, move to the full-day Baratang excursion on Day 2 with an early convoy departure, shift to Havelock Island on Day 3 for two days on the beach and reef, return to Port Blair on Day 5 for the Ross Island afternoon and close at Port Blair Airport on Day 6. Private AC Ertiga or Xylo class vehicle covers all road transfers. Private ferry tickets in economy class, all entry tickets, Cellular Jail show, Ross Island boat tickets and all permit charges are included. Daily breakfast and dinner on MAP basis throughout. Bangalore to Port Blair flights are booked separately by the traveller.

6 Days

The andaman package from bangalore begins at Port Blair Airport with a Bon Voyagers representative waiting on arrival. The first afternoon covers the Cellular Jail — the colonial prison built across seven radiating wings between 1896 and 1906, where political prisoners from across India were held during the British period. The evening light and sound show in the jail courtyard runs for approximately 45 minutes after dark in Hindi and English on alternate evenings, covering the history of the freedom struggle and the prisoners confined here.

An early night follows — Day 2 is the Baratang excursion, which requires a pre-dawn departure from Port Blair to join the first morning convoy through the Jarawa Tribal Reserve. Overnight in Port Blair.

The convoy from Jirkatang checkpoint, approximately 30 kilometres from Port Blair, departs in the early morning hours and vehicles must be at the checkpoint before the convoy window opens. The road passes through the Jarawa Tribal Reserve — a protected area where stopping, photography and any interaction with tribal members is strictly prohibited under Indian law. The convoy reaches Baratang in approximately 3 to 4 hours from Port Blair including the checkpoint wait. From the Baratang jetty a motorboat crosses to the limestone cave site — the caves are natural formations inside the forest, reached by a short jungle trek of roughly 15 to 20 minutes each way on a defined path.

The mud volcanoes are a separate stop, a short walk from the main road — low mounds of grey clay with slow surface activity. The return convoy brings the group back to Port Blair by evening on this andaman package from bangalore. Overnight in Port Blair.

The private ferry from Port Blair to Havelock departs from Phoenix Bay Jetty and covers approximately 57 kilometres in around 1.5 to 2.5 hours depending on sea conditions. After the long road day of Baratang, Havelock delivers an immediate contrast — the jetty at Havelock opens directly onto a quieter pace and Radhanagar Beach is a 20-minute drive from the arrival point. Radhanagar on Havelock's western side is a long arc of white sand backed by forest, with no commercial development directly on the beachfront.

The water colour shifts from pale green in the shallows to a deeper blue-green further out. The afternoon is unscheduled on this andaman package from bangalore — the beach is sufficient. Overnight at Havelock.

Elephant Beach on Havelock's northern edge is the water-sports centre of this day — a 45-minute boat ride from the main jetty brings the group to a bay where coral formations are visible at relatively shallow depths close to the shore. Snorkelling equipment is available for hire from registered operators and sea walking and scuba introduction dives are available for those who want to go deeper, all charged locally. The Bangalore traveller who spent Day 2 in a forest and on a motorboat and Day 3 arriving on a new island will find that Havelock's full day feels well-earned rather than passive.

Glass bottom boat rides are available for those who prefer the reef without getting wet. Kayaking through the mangrove creeks on the island's interior edge is a calmer afternoon option. Overnight at Havelock.

The morning on Havelock before the ferry back to Port Blair is worth keeping open — Kalapathar Beach on the island's eastern side faces the sunrise, is rocky rather than sandy and carries almost none of the foot traffic that Radhanagar draws. The ferry back to Port Blair takes approximately 1.5 to 2.5 hours. The Port Blair afternoon covers Ross Island — now Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose Island — reached by a short boat ride from Aberdeen Jetty.

The British administrative headquarters of the Andamans for most of the colonial period, Ross today is largely forest with ruins: the church walls open to the sky, the ballroom floor broken by tree roots, deer moving through the paths between buildings. This andaman package from bangalore closes the history loop from Day 1 here. Overnight in Port Blair.

The final morning of the andaman package from bangalore is in Port Blair. The Sagarika government emporium near the clock tower carries Andaman shell craft, wood products and local spices at fixed prices — straightforward for groups that want to pick up something without the Aberdeen Bazaar negotiation. Corbyn's Cove Beach is 15 minutes from the city centre and is the most accessible beach from Port Blair for a final hour by the water before the airport run.

The Bon Voyagers vehicle drops at Port Blair Airport for the return flight to Bangalore. Transfer timing is coordinated around the confirmed departure flight details provided at the time of booking.
