The meadow is wide and fir-edged, giving a long view back down the Lidder Valley best seen from the upper section where the forest opens.

The drive from Pahalgam to Gulmarg covers approximately 140 kilometres routing through Srinagar and then northwest into the Pir Panjal foothills, taking around 3.5 to 4 hours. Gulmarg sits at approximately 2,650 metres and the temperature drop on arrival is immediate regardless of the month. The Gondola operates in two phases from the meadow base to Apharwat ridge at approximately 3,980 metres — charges paid locally.
