Overview

This 8 Days, 7 Nights arunachal pradesh tour package runs from the Assam plains at Guwahati up to Tawang and back, crossing the 13,700 foot Sela Pass with a staged acclimatization plan so altitude never derails the trip. You travel in a private Innova, Xylo or Scorpio class vehicle with a driver who knows this road in every season.

Rooms, all meals on MAP, fuel, tolls and the Inner Line Permit are sorted before you arrive, so the only thing you manage is the view. It is the safe, organised way to do one of India’s great Himalayan drives, with the high Bumla Pass run available as an optional add on if you want it.

Itinerary

Our representative meets you at Guwahati airport or railway station in Assam and, after a short briefing, you start the drive to Bhalukpong, the entry gate into Arunachal Pradesh. It is roughly 230 kilometres and about six hours on the road. Bhalukpong sits beside the Kameng river at a low, comfortable elevation, which makes it a sensible first night before any real climbing begins.
The Inner Line Permit, included in your arunachal pradesh tour package, is checked here. You settle into the hotel, rest, and prepare for the mountain section that starts the next morning.

After breakfast you check out and begin the steady climb toward Dirang, about 140 kilometres and close to six hours including stops. The road gains height through the Tenga valley to Bomdila at around 8,000 feet, where you visit Bomdila Monastery and the viewpoint looking toward the Gorichen range.
From there you descend gently into Dirang, a calm town at roughly 4,900 feet known for its old dzong, hot water spring and apple and kiwi orchards. Staying lower tonight is a deliberate acclimatization step in the arunachal pradesh tour package before Sela Pass tomorrow.

Dirang to Tawang over Sela Pass: arunachal pradesh tour package
This is the high point of the trip, in altitude and in scenery. You leave Dirang after an early breakfast for the roughly 140 kilometre drive to Tawang, about seven hours on mountain roads. The route crosses Sela Pass at around 13,700 feet, with the cold, clear Sela Lake just below the top.
You stop at the Jaswant Garh War Memorial and Nuranang Falls near Jang before the final descent into Tawang at about 10,000 feet. You reach the hotel by evening and rest fully so your body settles at this height before any sightseeing.

A relaxed local day is built in so your body adapts properly to the altitude. After breakfast you visit Tawang Monastery, the largest in India and a working centre of Monpa Buddhism, founded in the seventeenth century. You then see the Tawang War Memorial, which honours the soldiers who fell in the 1962 Sino Indian conflict, followed by the local craft centre.
The pace in this part of the arunachal pradesh tour package stays slow on purpose, with the afternoon left open for rest so the higher elevation does not catch up with you.

Today stays in and around Tawang at an easy pace, which doubles as extra acclimatization. You visit Urgelling Monastery, the birthplace of the sixth Dalai Lama, the Gyangong Ani Gompa nunnery, and the town viewpoints, with free time in the afternoon.
If you want the high border country, an optional excursion to Bumla Pass, Madhuri Lake and Pangateng Tso Lake can be arranged locally for INR 5,500 per person, paid on the spot, since it needs a special permit and a separate registered vehicle. That run is not part of the standard arunachal pradesh tour package.

After breakfast you check out and begin the descent stage, driving back over Sela Pass toward Dirang, roughly 140 kilometres in about seven hours. Recrossing the pass on the way down is far easier on the body than the climb up was.
If weather and time allow, you visit Sangti Valley near Dirang, a quiet glacial flat known for migratory birds in winter, along with the Dirang hot water spring. You reach Dirang by evening for a comfortable overnight at a lower, warmer elevation, a useful soft landing within the arunachal pradesh tour package.

After breakfast you leave Dirang for the long drive down to Tezpur in Assam, around 200 kilometres and roughly seven hours, with the road dropping steadily back toward the plains. The shift from cold alpine air to warm lowland greenery over a single day is striking.
You stop along the way as needed and reach Tezpur by evening, where you check into the hotel and rest before the final transfer the next morning.

Your eight day journey closes today. After breakfast you check out and take the comfortable highway transfer from Tezpur to Guwahati, about 180 kilometres and four to five hours, timed to your flight or train.
Completing this circuit safely is the core purpose of the arunachal pradesh tour package, so the final drive is planned with buffer time rather than a rush. Our representative assists with the airport or railway drop, bringing your eastern Himalayan trip to a calm and on time close.

Best Time to Visit

Arunachal Pradesh is most accessible from March to early November, when Sela Pass and the Tawang roads are generally clear of heavy snow. During peak months, daytime temperatures in Tawang range between 10 and 20 degrees Celsius, though nights stay cold year round. September offers a perfect balance of manageable weather and stunning visibility before winter conditions begin in November.
